In Gournes, you play as a Skywarden exploring the fragmented ruins of an ancient civilization that once thrived above the clouds. The sky itself is a living entity, responding to your presence with shifting weather patterns, hidden chambers, and celestial charts. Bend the rain to open doors, summon winds to reveal pathways, and solve puzzles carved into the architecture of long-forgotten rooms. Chart the stars to unlock the secrets of the Zephyr Rift, a tear in the sky that holds the key to restoring balance. The world is vast, mysterious, and waiting to be discovered.
Early players and critics are already reading Gournes like a weather-worn atlas: slowly, carefully, and with the lights low.
Gournes keeps every storm readable and every ancient room legible. I solved one chamber by stopping the rain mid-air and tracing the old constellation on the ceiling — that moment alone is worth the journey.
The weather system is not a backdrop; it is the grammar of the world. Gournes taught me to read pressure, shadow, and stillness as one continuous language.
I don’t usually linger in art galleries, yet I stopped to watch a fog bank fold around a forgotten chapel for twenty minutes. The puzzles are sharp, but the sky is the real protagonist.
Everything you need to start your journey through the shifting halls of Rainfold.
Gournes is a single-player atmospheric puzzle-adventure game. You play as an apprentice cartographer who must bend the weather—rain, fog, and wind—to solve the puzzles of ancient, shifting rooms and restore a forgotten celestial chart.
The weather is your primary tool. By collecting elemental glyphs scattered throughout the ruins, you can summon rain to fill basins and activate pressure plates, dispel fog to reveal hidden walkways, and direct wind to rotate entire rooms or move obstacles. Mastering these elements is the key to charting the sky.
The game unfolds across the shattered landscapes of the Rainfold Archipelago. Each island contains a temple dedicated to a forgotten weather pattern, connected by an overarching mystery of a lost sky. You must piece together the fragments of this world to progress.
A careful playthrough of the main story takes around 10 hours. For players who wish to discover every hidden room, solve every optional constellation puzzle, and recover all cartographer notes, expect a 15-hour journey.
Gournes is launching on Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Console ports for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S are currently under evaluation based on community demand.
